CARDEX BACKGROUND
Silvally emerges from Type: Null's evolution after a bond of trust with its Trainer lets it break its heavy mask. Freed from this restraint, it gains speed and can change type during battle. The Pokédex emphasizes the strength of this relationship: it awakens its potential, rather than simply changing its equipment. Its new name comes from the young man who first achieved this evolution. Its history thus remains tied to a particular encounter.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Moon notes that Silvally is the name chosen by the young man who first evolved Type: Null. Pokémon Ultra Sun describes the broken mask and increased speed. Its transformation therefore left a mark on both its body and its name.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
