CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Luxray can see through obstacles to locate hidden prey or find a lost youngster. Its eyes turn golden when it activates this faculty. It also uses it to detect danger without having to cross a wall. The power comes at a cost, however: according to the Pokédex, Luxray sleeps a great deal to recover the electrical energy it spends looking through matter. Its exceptional vigilance therefore depends on long periods of rest.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield gives Luxray’s sight a trade-off: looking through matter consumes so much electricity that it must sleep for a long time afterwards. Pokémon Black explains that this power can be used to find its young, rather than solely to pursue prey.
