CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Kecleon changes its body's colors to blend into the surroundings and approach prey. Yet a zigzag on its belly stays visible: it never changes with the rest of its skin. Once close enough, it extends its long tongue to catch the target. Its hue can also vary with mood and health. The Pokédex describes effective but never absolutely perfect camouflage that sometimes reveals how it feels.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Omega Ruby notes that Kecleon's belly pattern remains identical through all its color changes. Pokémon Ultra Moon adds that the vividness of its hue follows its health. Its skin therefore provides two different clues: a fixed marking and a variable color.
