CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Pineco remains suspended from a branch, where its silhouette resembles a pine cone. It strengthens its shell by gluing on pieces of bark with saliva and waits for Bug-type Pokémon to pass. This protection makes it heavier with age. Birds may nevertheless mistake it for food and peck it. If the tree moves while it eats, it sometimes falls to the ground and explodes. Its ambush position is therefore safe only while undisturbed.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon states that Pineco glues tree bark to its body with saliva; an old specimen may thereby become enormous. Pokémon Ultra Sun names Cutiefly among its favourite prey. Its growth therefore also depends on materials found on its tree.
