Mabosstiff is gentle with children and enjoys playing with them. When its family is threatened, its expression changes and becomes intimidating. It then has another resource: its large dewlap can store energy that it releases all at once to repel an opponent. The Pokédex thus combines an affectionate presence with a sudden, powerful defense. This change of attitude responds to a specific situation: protecting those it cares about.
