CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Yveltal spreads its wings and tail feathers, which turn red before it absorbs the life energy of its surroundings. When its own life nears its end, the Pokédex relates that it draws in this force once more, then returns to a cocoon state. The entries therefore connect two changes in appearance with this formidable power: its feathers turn red as it absorbs surrounding energy, then the cocoon appears as its end approaches.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Y relates that Yveltal becomes a cocoon again when it senses its end approaching, after absorbing life energy. Pokémon X describes the visible signal of this power: the outspread feathers of its wings and tail turn red.
