CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Togedemaru generates little electricity on its own. Its long back spike attracts lightning or catches an Electric-type attack, and its internal sac stores the energy it receives. When startled, the other spikes on its back rise automatically. If it feels seriously threatened, it curls into a ball and releases electric shocks. The Pokédex describes a small Pokémon that depends on thunderstorms as well as protecting itself from them.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun counts fourteen spikes on Togedemaru's back that stand on end when it is startled. Pokémon Shield shows their defensive role when it rolls into a ball. Its response therefore begins even before it releases an electric shock.
