CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Ferrothorn clings to cave walls and ceilings with its thorny feelers. It can let prey pass beneath it before striking with its steel spikes. These same spikes help it crack rocks, from which it then absorbs nutrients. Its strength is therefore not limited to defense: it allows it to move and feed in a mineral environment. The Pokédex connects its armor with its entire way of life.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword explains that Ferrothorn splits rocks to reach the nutrients they contain. Pokémon Shield notes that it plants its spikes in walls to move along them. Its weapons therefore also serve as footholds and feeding tools.
