CARDEX BACKGROUND
Silcoon suspends its cocoon from a branch with silk and waits for evolution under shelter. Two small holes let it look outside without leaving this protection. People long believed it took no nourishment during this period. The Pokédex corrects this idea: its silk collects rain and dew, supplying the water it needs to endure. Its stillness therefore conceals an unobtrusive way of surviving until transformation.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Alpha Sapphire revisits an old misconception: Silcoon does not pass its waiting period without absorbing anything, because its silk collects rainwater. Omega Ruby also describes the two openings in its cocoon through which it observes the world.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
