CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Fletchling’s song may seem welcoming, but it also marks a boundary. Its calls and tail movements send signals, while an intruder in its territory meets an unsparing defence. The small bird therefore takes on a different meaning according to the situation: a pleasant melody to a listener may be a very serious warning to someone approaching.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

On Fletchling No. 138, the first attack draws one card, then three more if its player went second and is on their first turn. The second shows 20 damage but does nothing if the coin lands tails. Sumiyoshi Kizuki illustrated this printing, whose two attacks depend on different conditions.
