CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Absol has long suffered from confusion between announcing a disaster and causing it. Because its appearance sometimes precedes catastrophe, humans have held it responsible. Yet the Pokédex mainly describes its ability to perceive signs of danger. The mountain-dwelling loner thus bears a reputation that turns its talent for anticipation into a reason for fear among those who encounter it.

A detail worth noticing

Absol sm9-88's Shadow Seeker starts at 30 damage and adds 30 for each Colorless symbol in the opponent's Active Pokémon's Retreat Cost. Its Ability increases that cost if the target is a Basic Pokémon. nagimiso illustrated this card, where the Ability can strengthen the attack without changing its own cost.
