The Pokémon’s story

Chansey places others at the centre of the encounters described by the Pokédex. When it sees an injured Pokémon, it shares its nourishing eggs. The precious contents of its pouch thus become a resource offered to another. Its gentleness is more than appearance: it shows itself through a concrete act that puts a weakened being’s needs ahead of preserving its own supply.

A detail worth noticing

Chansey No. 69's Healing Trial flips a coin: heads removes three counters from Chansey; tails removes them from the Defending Pokémon. Pulled Punch shows 40 damage but drops to 10 if the Defender already has counters. Kouki Saitou illustrated this card, where healing the opponent may change the next hit's power.
