CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Marshadow hides in the shadow of a human or Pokémon, sometimes for so long that no one notices its presence. By observing its host, it learns their movements and can reproduce even highly advanced fighting techniques. Yet its temperament remains shy. The Pokédex says it learned a kung fu master's secret move this way. Its strength comes less from a frontal attack than from invisible learning.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword describes Marshadow copying a kung fu master's ultimate technique after hiding in his shadow. Pokémon Shield explains why it remained unknown for so long. Its discretion is therefore more than a defense: it also helps it learn.
