CARDEX BACKGROUND
Iron Thorns recalls a Tyranitar, but texts attempting to explain its appearance need to be read cautiously. A dubious magazine presented it as a Tyranitar from a future one billion years away. An old expedition journal described an object named Iron Thorns with several similar traits. The Pokédex compares these descriptions without confirming time travel. Its familiar appearance therefore does not, by itself, prove the provenance recounted by the magazine.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. The billion-year gap appears in a dubious magazine cited by Pokémon Scarlet, not in scientific dating. Pokémon Violet confines itself to comparing some of Iron Thorns's characteristics with those of an object recorded in an expedition journal.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
