CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Vanillish absorbs pure water to thicken its icy body. This adaptation let it endure very cold periods and survive to the present day. It blows icy particles to stop an opponent, then can strike with its head. Despite the harshness of this defense, the Pokédex emphasizes its kindness: it would not go so far as to take a life. On very sunny days, it rarely appears, preferring conditions that keep its ice intact.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Pokémon Shield credits Vanillish with breath that can reach minus a hundred degrees, while noting that it spares its opponents. Pokémon Sword explains that it strengthens itself by drinking pure water. Its icy power therefore depends on a simple intake and remains restrained by its temperament.
