CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Octillery likes sheltering in rocky hollows and can even occupy a hole dug by another Pokémon. When hunting, it grips prey with its tentacles and tries to immobilize it before delivering the final blow. If its opponent proves too powerful, it sprays ink to hide its escape. This liquid also disrupts the sense of smell of some pursuers. The Pokédex presents a hunter able to switch from restraint to retreat as soon as the balance of power changes.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon says Octillery's black ink can be used in cooking. Pokémon Ultra Sun also credits it with an effect on predators' sense of smell. The same secretion therefore helps it escape pursuit and finds an unexpected human use.
