CARDEX BACKGROUND
Voltorb first appeared in Pokédex accounts at the same place as Poké Balls: a factory that manufactured them. Its shape resembles the object so closely that nobody has been able to explain the connection. One hypothesis suggests that strong exposure to energy brought a Poké Ball to life. The text nevertheless leaves this origin unresolved. Voltorb thus remains a Pokémon that could be mistaken for a tool, with an industrial history that still cannot be confirmed.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Sometimes a light impact is enough to make Voltorb explode, according to Alpha Sapphire. This risk makes its resemblance to a Poké Ball particularly deceptive: an object someone might pick up without thinking could be a highly sensitive Pokémon. The Pokédex describes a real encounter hazard without giving it a certain origin.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
