CARDEX BACKGROUND
Ho-Oh moves through stories as a bird with changing feathers. Depending on the direction of the light, they shine in seven colours, and a rainbow seems to follow its flight. Its feathers are said to bring good fortune, and seeing the Pokémon is said to bring lasting joy. Some entries add that it reveals its wings to a pure-hearted Trainer. The Pokédex gives no address where it can be found: it preserves the idea of a rare appearance, associated with light and legend.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. The seven colours attributed to Ho-Oh’s feathers vary with the angle of its body to the light, explains Pokémon Omega Ruby. The same entry places its home at the foot of a rainbow according to tradition: this is a reported legend, not a mapped location.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
