CARDEX BACKGROUND
Pupitar wears a shell as hard as stone, but this pupal state does not condemn it to immobility. It produces internal gas, compresses it and expels it to leap or move at high speed. Its legs are already beginning to emerge beneath the armour while its new body forms. Impatient to evolve, it sometimes releases this pressure in all directions. The Pokédex thus describes a restless transformation, almost dangerous to anything in its path.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Ultra Sun connects Pupitar’s erratic leaps with its impatience to evolve. Pokémon Shield reveals that legs are already emerging beneath its shell. The gas therefore propels a pupa actively preparing the body of its next stage.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
Its body is as hard as bedrock. By venting pressurized gas, it can launch itself like a rocket.Cost: Colorless · Colorless
