CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Tangrowth's two arms are intertwined vines that it stretches out to grab prey. It can lose them in battle because they grow back. In a warm climate, they grow so quickly that it sometimes has to shorten them itself. During the warmer season, all its vines become dense enough to hide its eyes. The Pokédex shows strength based on the continuous growth of a plantlike body rather than ordinary limbs.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword presents the discovery that Tangrowth's arms are intertwined vines as a recent one. Pokémon Shield says it cuts them when they grow too much in the heat. Its limbs are therefore both renewable weapons and vegetation that needs tending.
