CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Drapion asserts its presence in desert expanses through the power of its pincers and armoured body. Its extremities carry a potent poison, but Pokédex entries emphasise that it can defeat an opponent without even using it. Its ferocity has earned it a fearsome nickname. Yet it has a limit: faced with Hippowdon, Drapion avoids confrontation. The portrait is of a feared predator also capable of recognising a greater danger.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield nicknames Drapion the “Sand Demon”, but describes it as docile before Hippowdon. Pokémon Sword explains that it rarely uses its poison despite its violence. The species’ reputation therefore rests as much on physical strength as on a weapon it often keeps in reserve.
