CARDEX BACKGROUND
Raikou runs while releasing powerful lightning. The rain cloud carried on its back is said to let it make lightning strike whenever it wishes. According to one tradition, it arrived with a thunderstorm itself. Its roars are described as shock waves striking the ground with the force of lightning. The Pokédex thus combines fast running, signs in the sky and an origin story linked to storms.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon X presents Raikou’s arrival with a thunderstorm as a belief. Pokémon Omega Ruby associates its roars with shock waves coming from the sky. It is therefore not only its running that recalls lightning, but also the sound accompanying it.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
