CARDEX BACKGROUND
Walrein opens a path through icy water with its immense tusks. They pulverize ice blocks, while a thick fat layer insulates it from cold and cushions attacks. It also lives in groups of twenty to thirty. When an enemy appears, the leader intervenes to protect the others, even at risk to its life. Beneath its massive appearance, the Pokédex therefore describes a swimmer equipped for sea ice and a group where defending others matters as much as individual strength.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Walrein's tusks keep growing throughout its life. Pokémon Shield says a tusk broken in battle regrows completely in a year. Pokémon Omega Ruby credits them with destroying an ice block weighing over ten tons in a single blow.
