CARDEX BACKGROUND
Shiftry lives high in large trees and remains difficult to observe deep in forests. Pokédex accounts present it as a guardian able to read its opponents’ intentions. Its broad leaves resemble fans, but their movements raise winds powerful enough to reshape the landscape. Despite this strength, some entries describe it living quietly in its territory, far from the visitors who fear it.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Gusts produced by Shiftry’s fans can reach thirty metres per second, according to Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. Pokémon Shield also reports that a simple movement of its leaves is said to cause the forest breeze: an explanation presented as a tradition.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
