CARDEX BACKGROUND
Basculegion carries the souls of companions that failed to complete their journey up Hisui's rivers. The official website recounts that this presence accompanies a Basculin's evolution and that the souls fight alongside it. They also give it strength to swim without exhaustion even when the current becomes fierce. Its group's failed crossing has therefore not vanished: it shapes the Pokémon continuing the journey and now defending its place in the region's waters.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. The official Pokémon Legends: Arceus website explains that souls of Basculin that died while swimming upstream can attack alongside Basculegion as though possessing wills of their own. The game's Pokédex presents it as unrivaled in Hisui's rivers.
