The Pokémon’s story

Thievul chooses a target and marks it so that it can follow the scent. It then waits for a moment of inattention to steal its belongings. Its flexible body and sharp claws ease its movements when stealing Eggs or food. The Pokédex also names Boltund as its sworn enemy. Its cunning therefore does not lie in a frontal attack: it relies on scouting, patience and a quick escape with what it wants.

Thievul can track a chosen victim by scent, according to Pokémon Sword. It waits until the target is distracted before acting. Pokémon Shield specifies what it often seeks: Eggs and food, and names Boltund as its sworn enemy.
