CARDEX BACKGROUND
The story behind this Trainer card
Ultra Ball begins here by discarding two cards from your hand. If that discard occurs, you search your deck for a Pokémon, reveal it, and add it to your hand before shuffling. The search therefore depends on the first action. It does not impose a particular stage on the chosen Pokémon or turn its recovery into immediate entry into play.
Background on this Trainer card’s printed effect; its edition, language and finish remain distinct.A detail worth noticing
This Ultra Ball's wording explicitly makes the search conditional on the discard. Both cards must be given up to obtain the stated search. The recovered Pokémon enters your hand after being revealed, regardless of its position in an evolution chain.
