CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Poltchageist resembles a regional form of Sinistea, but research has established that they are unrelated. Its origin is still cautiously recounted: the regrets of a tea ceremony master who died before perfecting his art supposedly attached themselves to matcha and gave rise to this Pokémon. The Pokédex thus places a misleading resemblance alongside a creation legend. A tea-like appearance does not make it a close relative of the other Pokémon that evokes a cup.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Violet states that Poltchageist and Sinistea were found to be unrelated despite their comparable appearance. Pokémon Scarlet presents as supposition the story of a tea master whose regrets supposedly remained in matcha.
