CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Mantine swims peacefully in groups, then builds momentum to glide above the waves. Remoraid cling to it and collect leftovers from its meals without really bothering it. Its elegant movement has become a cherished memory for visitors to Alola and has even inspired some to take up surfing. The Pokédex thus connects a way of moving with its peaceful relationship with small passengers and the humans who watch it.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon X credits Mantine with glides exceeding a hundred meters after gathering momentum in the sea. Pokémon Ultra Moon says its swimming has inspired surfers. Its natural spectacle has therefore become the starting point of an activity for some humans.
