CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Ponyta’s first steps are less assured than its great runs might suggest. As a newborn, it struggles to run properly. Its legs gain strength by following other members of its species. This spirited-looking Pokémon learns to move gradually, through contact with the group, before displaying all the ease associated with its silhouette.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Ponyta swsh10-021 by Jiro Sasumo uses Flame Tail for 20 damage with one Fire Energy. On swsh12-021, illustrated by Teeziro, Ponyta reaches 50 damage but does 10 to itself. That second printing carries recoil absent from the 20-damage hit on swsh10-021.
