The Pokémon’s story

Mightyena hunts in packs, sometimes in groups of around ten. This cooperation helps it surround and capture prey. Before attacking, it may growl and flatten itself against the ground, signs that reveal its intention. Its attachment to group rules also influences its relationship with a Trainer: it readily obeys someone it judges truly capable of guiding it. The Pokédex connects this loyalty with the species’ former wild life.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Y describes packs of ten Mightyena coordinating their hunt. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire explains that this collective life persists in how they assess a Trainer. Their obedience is therefore presented as a form of trust rather than an automatic response.
