CARDEX BACKGROUND
Garchomp hunts in the air at a speed compared with a jet plane. The protrusions on its head detect distant movements, while its wings and scales aid the pursuit. It lives near volcanic mountain ranges among other places, and can surprise bird Pokémon in flight. On snowy mountains, however, it must quickly return to its den to escape the cold. The Pokédex therefore describes a fast predator whose hunting depends on terrain and temperature.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Ultra Sun mentions aerial clashes between Garchomp and Salamence when they pursue the same prey. Pokémon Shield adds a limit to its exploits: even after hunting on snowy peaks, Garchomp must return quickly before its body freezes.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
