CARDEX BACKGROUND
Shedinja appears in an unusual way: a Poké Ball may contain it after a Nincada evolves. Its body stays motionless, does not breathe, and resembles an empty shell. Yet it is said to fly without flapping its wings. A belief also holds that looking into its hollow body could steal a soul; the Pokédex reports this as a belief, not an established fact. Between its unexpected arrival and inert appearance, Shedinja maintains a mysterious reputation.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Alpha Sapphire describes Shedinja appearing in a Poké Ball after Nincada evolves. Pokémon Shield emphasizes that it does not breathe and can fly without wingbeats. Omega Ruby presents the fear associated with its hollow body as a belief.
