The Pokémon’s story

Impidimp feeds on a particular energy: that given off by upset people or Pokémon. It inhales it through its nose and draws strength from it. To find this emotion, it sometimes sneaks into houses and steals objects. Their owners' frustration then becomes another meal. Its behavior therefore directly connects trickery with feeding. It does not merely seek something to take: it also provokes the negative reaction that lets it eat.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword locates Impidimp's absorption of negative energy in its nose. Pokémon Shield describes its method inside houses: it steals objects, then feeds on the annoyance of occupants deprived of their belongings.
