CARDEX BACKGROUND
Raikou runs while releasing powerful lightning. The rain cloud carried on its back is said to let it make lightning strike whenever it wishes. According to one tradition, it arrived with a thunderstorm itself. Its roars are described as shock waves striking the ground with the force of lightning. The Pokédex thus combines fast running, signs in the sky and an origin story linked to storms.

Pokémon Omega Ruby associates its roars with shock waves coming from the sky. It is therefore not only its running that recalls lightning, but also the sound accompanying it.
