CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Vespiquen shelters its young in its abdomen like a living honeycomb. The larvae receive nectar gathered by Combee there. In battle, it directs them through pheromones; the more it releases, the more young respond to its orders. The Pokédex describes a closely connected group in which the queen protects and feeds its offspring while also using them in defense.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield connects the number of Combee directed by Vespiquen with the amount of pheromones it emits. Pokémon Y places their nectar-fed larvae inside its abdomen. Chemical communication thus organizes a group raised very close to the queen.
