CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Golbat waits for moonless nights to approach sleeping prey discreetly. Its four hollow fangs let it drink blood, but their thinness makes them fragile. An overly large meal may even weigh it down so much that it cannot fly. The Pokédex also mentions individuals sharing food with hungry companions. Behind this unsettling hunt lie physical limits and, sometimes, a form of mutual help.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon states that a Golbat can absorb up to 300 ml of blood at once, then become too heavy to fly. Pokémon Sun explains that its fangs are hollow and fragile. The tool that helps it feed can therefore also make hunting risky.

Printed card text — English

Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.

Description from the source

It can drink more than 10 ounces of blood at once. If it has too much, it gets heavy and flies clumsily.

Attacks

Screech

Cost: Colorless

Until the end of your next turn, if an attack damages the Defending Pokémon (after applying Weakness and Resistance), that attack does 20 more damage to the Defending Pokémon.

Poison Bite

Cost: Grass · Colorless

Damage: 10

If this attack damages the Defending Pokémon, the Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned and you remove a number of damage counters from Golbat equal to half that damage (rounded up to the nearest 10). If Golbat has fewer damage counters than that, remove all of them. Either way, the Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned.
