CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Crustle carries a large rock on its back and can cross parched regions for several days. When rain arrives, it shelters inside. It also defends a territory where disputes are settled by the strength of this shell: a broken rock signals defeat. Its claws remain formidable weapons in battle. The Pokédex thus makes its mobile home both shelter from the weather and a visible sign of its power.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Black explains that a dispute between Crustle ends when one opponent's rock breaks. Pokémon White describes their long journeys through arid terrain despite this weight. Their shells are therefore useful protection but also a risk during territorial battles.
