CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Rillaboom beats its unusual stump in rhythm to control its power. The roots it manipulates also become weapons when it fights. Yet the Pokédex describes it as calm and concerned with harmony within the group. Among its kind, leadership goes to the one with the greatest mastery of drumming techniques. Rhythm is therefore more than an accompaniment to battle: it determines both its actions and its rank among other Rillaboom.

A detail worth noticing

Leadership of the group does not necessarily go to the most aggressive Rillaboom. According to Pokémon Shield, the best drumming techniques determine its leader. This rule sheds light on the stump’s role: it also expresses an ability recognised by its peers.
