CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Xerneas is said to have slept for a thousand years in the form of a tree before awakening. Stories describe it as able to share its life force with beings around it. When its antlers shine in seven colours, a legend sees this as a sign that it is granting eternal life. The Pokédex thus places its appearance between two images: a tree motionless for centuries and a Pokémon whose energy radiates as it awakens.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon X places Xerneas’s awakening after a thousand-year sleep in tree form. Pokémon Y reports the belief associated with the seven colours of its antlers. The game presents this gift of eternal life as a legend, rather than an ordinary observation.
