The Pokémon’s story

Tapu Koko is the guardian of Melemele Island and a master of lightning. It can summon thunderclouds to build up electricity in its body. Curious by nature, it sometimes appears before humans and observes its surroundings. Its protection does not mean constant benevolence, however: entries say it can be cruel to those who have offended it. Its anger flares quickly, then it sometimes forgets the cause. This unpredictable temperament accompanies its power as a guardian deity.

Pokémon Moon relates that Tapu Koko can forget almost immediately why it became angry. This trait contrasts with its role as Melemele Island’s guardian: Pokémon Ultra Sun warns that it can be cruel to a human or Pokémon that has offended it.
