The Pokémon’s story

Dugtrio brings together three heads arising from the same body. They think in coordination and take turns digging, forming a team capable of travelling far underground. The Pokédex credits them with tunnels reaching a hundred kilometres deep. Repeated blows from their hard skulls move the soil; this work may even cause tremors. Despite farmers raising this Pokémon, the buried portion of its body has never been observed.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun relates that Dugtrio’s three members almost always get along, except when competing for the first bite of food. This rivalry contrasts with their perfect cooperation when digging. Pokémon Moon adds that nobody has seen the part of their body hidden underground.
