CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Magby grows up near volcanoes, in heat that would be unbearable for many other Pokémon. At day's end, it rests in magma. Its emotions are immediately visible: surprise or excitement sends flames from its mouth and nose. In Hisui, the color of these flames even indicates its health, with a yellow glow accompanying healthy individuals. If fire drips from its nose, however, another entry sees this as a sign of a cold.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon puts Magby's body temperature at around 1,100 °F, enough to dry out a small pond. Pokémon Ultra Sun presents flames dripping from the nose as a cold symptom and then recommends resting in magma.
