CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Cradily lived in warm, shallow seas. Its heavy body kept it on the bottom even when the water grew rough. To feed, it could stretch its neck and eight tentacles toward distant prey, then hold it while digestive fluid acted. At low tide, it also reached beaches to find food. This prehistoric hunter moved slowly but compensated with its reach and firm grip.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword measures Cradily's reach: its neck and tentacles can extend beyond three times their usual length. Alpha Sapphire explains that its body acts as an anchor in rough seas. Pokémon Ultra Sun also places it on beaches at low tide.
