CARDEX BACKGROUND
Faced with another Pokémon, Ditto can abandon its own form to reproduce the other’s appearance. This imitation seems almost perfect when the model remains before its eyes. Without it, memory takes over and mistakes become possible. Its talent illustrates a familiar distinction: copying what one observes and reconstructing what one remembers do not require the same effort.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. An encounter between two Ditto creates a particular situation. Pokémon Shield explains that each may move faster than usual to imitate the other exactly. Even when faced with a master of copying, this Pokémon continues its efforts at imitation.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
Its transformation ability is perfect. However, if made to laugh, it can't maintain its disguise.Ability
