CARDEX BACKGROUND
Stoutland enjoys human company and can quickly become attached to those who treat it well. Its wise temperament sometimes leads it to look after children while their parents are busy. Its long coat protects it from the cold, explaining its place in homes in freezing regions. It is also proud of its mustache, a sign of rank among its kind. The Pokédex therefore presents a domestic companion whose character and appearance both play a social role.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Shield reports that the length of Stoutland's mustache can indicate its place in the species' hierarchy. Pokémon Ultra Moon mentions how commonly it was once raised in cold regions. This admired coat also helped it live alongside humans through winter.
