CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Jirachi sleeps for centuries, then a very pure voice may wake it. According to legend, its awakening lasts only one week every thousand years. The paper strips attached to its head are said to receive the wishes it can grant. Even asleep, it is said to defend itself if danger threatens. The Pokédex thus presents its powers as a rare and fleeting account: the moment of awakening matters as much as the wishes entrusted to the Pokémon.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Omega Ruby relates that Jirachi can protect itself without waking up. This defence is surprising for a Pokémon whose legend rests on a long sleep. Pokémon Sword limits its waking period to seven days after the singing of a pure voice.
