CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

At daybreak, Fomantis spreads its leaves to bask in the sun. It rests this way during the day and absorbs light, then resumes its activities at night. The more sunlight it receives, the brighter its color becomes. Its head also releases a pleasant scent as it warms up, attracting nearby Bug-type Pokémon. The Pokédex connects its daily rhythm with light: it nourishes its body, changes its colors, and announces its presence to other species.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Ultra Sun describes the four leaves Fomantis opens in the morning to receive light. Ultra Moon links strong sunlight to brighter colors. Pokémon Sword specifies that the scent released in the sun attracts Bug-type Pokémon.
