CARDEX BACKGROUND
Lotad floats on the surface of ponds and lakes, its life closely tied to its large leaf. If the leaf withers, the Pokémon weakens too. It sometimes leaves the water to seek a cleaner environment. Its calm existence as a small floating inhabitant depends on a fragile balance between the health of its leaf and that of its habitat.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Alpha Sapphire reports an old explanation for Lotad's aquatic life: it supposedly lived on land before its leaf grew too large and heavy. This origin is presented as a supposition, not a directly observed event.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
