CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Tentacool floats near coasts rather than actively swimming. Its body, almost entirely water, blends with the sea when submerged, making it hard to see. Its toxic tentacles catch prey and regrow when lost. An individual stranded on a beach can dry out, but the Pokédex says returning it to water can help revive it.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon puts the water content of Tentacool's body at 99%, with the remainder including its toxin-producing organ. Pokémon Shield emphasizes that this composition makes it almost invisible underwater. Its apparent transparency thus comes from the environment it resembles.
